Sports Physical Therapy in Austin, TX

BUILT TO RETURN. NOT JUST TO REST.

Athletes come to us when recurring injuries keep cutting their seasons short. We find what's actually driving the issue, build a plan around your sport and your goals, and work with you one-on-one every session — no handoffs, no guessing.

Why Sports Injuries Keep Coming Back

You're Cleared but Not Ready

Getting cleared doesn't mean you're ready to perform. Most athletes return to sport before they've rebuilt the capacity to handle real training demands — and get hurt again.

Rest Isn't the Fix

You've rested, reduced load, and waited it out. It calms down for a bit. Then you push again and the same issue comes back because the root cause was never addressed.

Generic Rehab Doesn't Transfer

Band exercises and foam rolling don't prepare you for sprinting, cutting, or maximal effort. Rehab that doesn't match your sport's demands isn't getting you back to full performance.

Common Conditions We Treat

What Brings Athletes In

We work with athletes and active adults dealing with overuse injuries, acute sprains and strains, and post-surgical return-to-sport rehab. If it's keeping you off the field, out of the gym, or below full capacity, we'll find the root cause and build a plan to address it.

Knee pain that flares with running, cutting, or squatting under load

IT band tightness or hip pain that worsens as mileage or intensity increases

Ankle sprains and chronic ankle instability that keep recurring mid-season

Shoulder pain with throwing, pressing, or overhead movement in sport

Hamstring strains and groin issues that keep coming back at higher intensities

Post-surgical rehab for ACL, rotator cuff, or meniscus — focused on real return-to-sport readiness

Hip impingement, labral irritation, or pelvic pain that limits speed and range of motion

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about sports PT at Your PT Doc in Austin

Do I need a referral or clearance to get started?

No referral needed. You can book directly and we'll evaluate from scratch in the first session. If imaging would help guide your plan, we'll let you know — but we won't wait on it to start making progress.

How is this different from standard sports PT?

You'll work one-on-one with a clinician for the full session — no techs, no waiting room exercises. We build a progression around your sport's actual demands so you return ready to perform, not just pain-free at rest. Every plan is built around what's driving your injury, not a standard protocol.

Will you tell me to stop training entirely?

Rarely. The goal is to keep you training in some form while we address the root cause. We'll modify what needs to change and build tolerance to what's setting you off — pulling you out of training completely is usually not the right answer.

How do I know when I'm ready to return to sport?

We use return-to-sport testing — force output, movement quality, and sport-specific tasks — to guide clearance decisions. You'll earn your return through performance benchmarks, not just symptom resolution or time passed.

Do you accept insurance?

We're cash-based — no insurance required. We can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Most athletes find the undivided, one-on-one attention every session is worth it compared to insurance-driven structures where your time is split across multiple patients.
